The Boston General Store is one of the newest additions to Coolidge Corner. And yet, the store’s comprehensive inventory of high-quality gifts—from handmade kitchen ceramics to leather journals to horse-hair shaving brushes—feels like a throwback. Owner April Gabriel wrote on the store’s website that the shop’s concept springs from the summers she spent with her grandmother in the Berkshires when she was a kid, making raspberry jam: “The idea that well-made products actually could last a lifetime and become stories in themselves always amazed me.” –Bryanna Cappadona
